Sex Economy

So the other day I posted some song lyrics. The song is entitled "Savages" and it is by my favorite Recording Artist: Marina and the Diamonds. The song is about rape violence. Here is a LINK to the article about it. I love Marina because she is so cryptic and uses a lot of symbolism. My favorite production is Oh, NO! by Marina and The Diamonds. On the exterior it looks like a typical pop singer gloating about money and fame. If ever there was a soundtrack to my life it would be THAT song! Because the fact of the matter is, she isn't praising materialism she is mocking it. It is interesting how life is. Nature and science is an amazing. Humans walk around life thinking they are the exception rather than the rule. When in reality we are all programed and hardwired a certain way.

I must admit, I am very guilting of being WAY too blunt and down right rude. Thankfully, my mother never gives me an over inflated ego. She tells me you are wrong to judge, you are wrong to be mean. She is right. In MY family, we tell each other the way it is. If I am being a scumbag, she will call me out. Even when if am right and have a genuine heart, she reminds me that I can't convey anything to others who have already made up their mind based on what they perceive. I am reminded of a quote by F. Scott Fitzgerald:

“Whenever you feel like criticizing any one,” he told me, “just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had.”

So, you don't have to prove to others they are wrong(even if they are) just have to live life worthy of your OWN standards. That has definitely changed my outlook on life and how I handle people. I always talk about having kids with my mom, and how I want to be a good mother and raise my kids right. She looked at me and said, "Not everyone is fortunate to have spectacular, successful children like I did. You are more than I could have ever asked just have a big mouth!" LOL! This is why I LOVE my mom, even when she compliments me...she always reminds me of what I need to improve. Because in life, we should ALWAYS strive to improve. I always said I wouldn't drink until I finished college.

So it got me thinking about how I personally look at the world. In numbers and statistics. As portrayed in "Savages," rape culture is the dark treacherous side of the "Sex Economy." I find it interesting to view sex as a commodity....but frankly it is. In any economy, it is a compilation of allocating scarce resources...or in this case sex. I was watching a video analysis about how our sexual economy has changed over time.

The Economics of Sex

Interesting information!!! I always say "The most valuable commodity I know of, is information." Like many other mergers and acquisitions there is risk, gains and losses. Nature and science are a beautiful thing. I never understood this quote from my FAVORITE movie Wall Street. Now I do.
The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed -- for lack of a better word -- is good.
Greed is right.
Greed works.
Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit.
Greed, in all of its forms -- greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge -- has marked the upward surge of mankind.
